CASE STUDY

Neurofeedback and Its Effect on
Trauma

INITIAL MEASURES:

  • Anxiety: 81 (maximum)

  • Depression: 74 (maximum)

  • PTSD: 59 (maximum)

  • Fatigue: 27t more capable of managing her work and daily tasks.

PROGRESS & RESULTS:

After participating in 20 sessions of neurofeedback therapy, S experienced significant improvements across all measured areas:

  • Anxiety: Improved from 81 to 54

  • Depression: Improved from 74 to 50

  • PTSD: Improved from 59 to 19

  • Fatigue: Improved from 27 to 63

These results were significantly better than typical improvements seen with medication, which usually yield a 4-5 point improvement per measure.

SUMMARY

  • Patient: Survivor of sexual trauma

  • Condition: Severe anxiety, depression, PTSD, and sleep issues resulting in fatigue

  • Treatment: 20 Neurofeedback Sessions

The neurofeedback sessions had a profound impact on S's recovery from the effects of sexual trauma. The improvements in anxiety, depression, PTSD, and fatigue were substantial, providing S with a better quality of life and enhanced emotional well-being. The success observed in S's case was consistent across all participants in the study, demonstrating the effectiveness of neurofeedback therapy for survivors of trauma. This partnership with the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center highlights neurofeedback as a powerful tool for healing and recovery in trauma survivors.
